MY STORY

Shortly after my son, Gabriel, was born, I found myself struggling. He was fussy and cranky all the time. Have you ever heard the phrase sleep like a baby? This baby didn’t sleep, which means I didn’t sleep either. This was not what I expected motherhood to look like! But as someone with a strong meditation practice, I wanted to believe that the universe had given me Gabriel, in particular, for a bigger purpose. I decided to become a certified sleep consultant, specializing in infant and toddler sleep.

Through my training at the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management, I realized just what that purpose is: to support other parents going through the challenges of getting their babies to sleep. I firmly believe that no one should have to go through this stressful time alone.

With an approach that is both empowering and mindful, I love that I’m able to help families go from a place of sleep deprivation to sleep rejuvenation.

Sleep is hard! So is parenthood. My goal in working with parents is not only to help their children sleep better, but to normalize the many highs and lows along the way.

It’s ok to feel the way you feel! If you’re defeated and anxious one day—that’s ok. If you’re energized and hopeful another—that’s ok too!

I think it’s important for parents to be able to voice their struggles without fear of judgment or guilt.

Yes, parenting is challenging, but having a strong support system can make all the difference

ABOUT ME

Lucia Almeida-Oliveira

Certified  Pediatric Sleep Consultant

When I’m not helping babies get more sleep, you can find me teaching a Bar Method class, lying on the beach, or rocking out at a concert. I know how important it is to follow your passions (especially after becoming a parent), so I make time for traveling, meditating, and working out often. Staying true to who I am is important to me.

Although I’m originally from Portugal, I now live in Bridgewater, NJ with my husband, son, and our three lovable dogs.
